Local Plan Response
Wittering Parish Council (WPC) wishes to provide residents with a summary of the actions it has taken in response to Peterborough City Council’s (PCC) late amendment to their draft Local Plan proposing additional housing west of Wittering.
Members of the WPC:
- Attended a Zoom meeting with PCC to receive advance notification of the call for housing land west of Wittering.
- Submitted a detailed objection letter to PCC prior to the Cabinet regarding their late amendment to their draft Local Plan.
- Organised and assisted with a mailshot delivered to households in Wittering advising details of the two February PCC consultation meetings.
- Attended both PCC consultation meetings at the Parish Hall to challenge the proposals and raise questions.
- Supported and participated in door- to-door visits in the village to engage with residents and reaffirm the closing date for individual responses.
- Following an internal WPC poll, submitted a second objection letter to PCC through their formal consultation process.
- Responding to an internal poll, WPC agreed to make a financial contribution towards the cost of Thornhaugh’s planning consultant.
Throughout this process, WPC has remained committed to representing the interests of the wider Wittering community as effectively as possible.
WPC holds ten meetings each year. All meetings are open to the public and begin with a public forum, providing residents with the opportunity to raise questions and share their views.
